Gentle Hosea

let not this be a story of love wasted,
but of love sought, and love not found in other places.
may the unfaithful actions that you see
help you realize our sin to the highest degree.

let the woman represent Gomer, the one Hosea was called to marry
The duty of loving an unfaithful one is not an easy burden to carry.
He obeyed God and took her as his wife, knowing her life style
Caring for her, treating her right, and loving her all the while.

From man to man she went
From lover to lover with no repent
From idol to idol we cling
Finding our happiness inside useless things

And Hosea was still there
With gentle compassion after each affair
He wanted her for his own
Although to run away, Gomer was prone.

So one day he bought her and said, "live with me many days,
No longer will you be unfaithful, set aside your filthy ways."
Resist temptation to fall away, forgetting God's gentle kiss
Return to love, return to God, and your selfish acts dismiss.

Sweet freedom is found, gentle whispers are heard
In love let your heart rejoice
Retreat from you sin, start over again,
And see God as the only choice.
